Deerfield Valley Rescue members; Founding, past
and present gathered Saturday October 24th at the Hermitage to
commemorate 35 years of service as Deerfield Valley Rescue, Inc.
The night featured time to meet and reminisce with friends from
years past as well as current members, followed by a wonderful
meal. After the meal, our invited guests were announced
followed by our annual awards presentation. In addition to
the picture gallery located on this page, 2 Awardees were not
present to accept their awards. Maryann Lozito received
her 20 year award, and Jon Cushman received his 25 year
award...Congratulations Maryann, Jon and those present for your
dedicated time and service. Following the awards,
Wilmington and Dover Selectboard chairs Meg Streeter and Linda
Holland brought congratulations from their respective towns for
our milestone event. A letter was read commemorating the
event from the office of Senator Patrick Leahy, accompanied with
a flag that flew above our nations capitol. Next,
President Hillman read a letter from our friend and longtime
supporter "Dr. Harry' Haroutunian, who could not be present.
Dr. Harry's letter touched upon how things started back in 1974
with the help of alot of people, and how the squad has grown to
where it is today. We are sorry you could not make it Dr.,
but we thank you for all your help and hope to see you in the
future. Following this, founding members Merrill Mundell
and Fred Skwirut took us through some of the trials and
tribulations of Deerfield Valley Rescue from our founding in
1974 until today. Our evening ended with some music,
dancing and more visiting. Thank you all that attended and
we hope you had a wonderful time.
