This page contains some of the kits we utilize as well as equipment used during the care of ill and injured patients.  The kits are standard on all 3 ambulances and each kit has a specific purpose, as the description will explain.  Click on each thumbnail for a larger image.

Kits:

Jumpkit

This kit contains bandaging supplies as well as other odds and ends not found in the Oxygen or ALS kits. Such things are ring cutter, thermometers, hot packs and assorted other supplies.

Backboard Kit

This kit contains all items needed to spinal immobilize a patient on a Backboard. All the crew has to do is grab a backboard and this kit and the task is easily accomplished.

Defibrillator

This is the Zoll 1600 AED defibrillator/monitor. It is used by all member at the EMT-Basic level and above. It is used to shock a patient during Cardiac Arrests, and its monitoring capabilities enable a 3-lead EKG to be taken during medical emergencies and given to the receiving Emergency Room

Portable Suction unit

This is a portable suction device used to remove fluids from a patients airway. It is powered by a rechargeable battery which makes it able to be used away from an ambulance.

Oxygen Kit

Each ambulances carries this oxygen kit which contains all necessary oxygen administration devices as well as airway management and suction equipment.

ALS Kit

This is the ALS kit that our EMT-I's utilize. This kit contains items used to start intravenous lineS as well as 7 medications our EMT-I's can administer.

Equipment used:  

93P Stretcher

This is the Ferno Washington Model 93P Stretcher. This has multiple features that enable a patient to be moved by only 2 providers.

Backboard

This is the NAJO Rediwide Backboard. This is a standard backboard used to immobilize a patient with suspected spinal injures. Most of DVR's board are equipped with the Laerdal Speedblock head immoblizing system. Purchased with funds allocated by Vermont Dept. of Homeland Security

Vacuum splint kit

This is the MDI EMS Econo-Vac vacuum split kit. These are used to immoblize injured extremities. Vacuum splints have their air removed by a handheld pump and the splint forms around the extremity with no pain experienced by application of the splint.

Oxygen Manifold

This is the LSP Oxygen minilator/maxilator system. This allows us to deliiver either 6 liters per minute or 15 liters per minute to 5 patients at at time. Purchased with funds allocated from Vermont Dept of Homeland Security.

Turnout Coats

These are Globe EMS turnout coats for use during motor vehicle accidents or other situations where personal protection is needed. These coats are fire resistant as well as bloodborne pathogen resistant. Purchased with funds allocated from Vermont Dept. of Homeland Security.

Turnout pants

These are our Globe EMS turnout pants to be used with the turnout pants. These are fire resistant as well as Bloodborne pathogen resistant. Purchased with funds allocated from Vermont Dept. of Homeland Security.

Automated Blood pressure cuff monitor

This is the CAS-740 Automated blood pressure monitor. This monitor will take blood pressures, pulse oximetry and in some models temperature. These units are extremely durable and accurate and are a great help when there are limited personnel. Purchased with funds allocated from Vermont Dept. of Homeland Security

Cervical Collar

DVR utilized the Laerdal Adjustable Adult and Pediatric collars. Here is the adult collar applied to "Anne".

Traction Splint

Pictured here is the Ferno HARE traction splint used for femur fractures. We carry both Adult and Pediatric.

Headblocks

Pictured here are the Laerdal Speedblock system that we utilize with all our backboards. These blocks allow for adjustment up and down, as well as towards the midline or away from midline.

Pediatric Backboard

Each ambulance carries the Ferno Pedi-Pac Pediatric backboard. This board is used to immobize children from 28-54" and 20-90 pounds.

Vacuum splint

Each ambulance carries the MDI Pediatric mattress vacuum splint. Although designed for pediatric, this splint has multiple uses as a vacuum splint.

Scoop Stretcher

Each ambulance carries the Ferno EXL Scoop Stretcher. These are utilized for extricating patients from a variety of situations. Purchased with funds allocated by Vermont Dept. of Homeland Security.

Stair Chair

Each ambulance carries a stair chair used to extricate patients down stairs, where using the cot is not an option. Purchased with funds allocated by Vermont Dept. of Homeland Security

Sager Splint

DVR has just received Sager splints used for fractured femurs. This splint allows us to splint one femur or both, in the event there are bi-lateral fractures.

Ferno EZ Glide (59T) Stair Chair

DVR has just added 2 EZ Glide stair chairs to our inventory. These stair chairs differ from tradtional chairs. They feature a track system that opens up, to allow the chair to be taken down stairs without the harm of possibley injurying a providers back.
