DVR's subscription program started during the founding of our organization.  The subscription has 3 different monetary levels, to corresponded to a certain geographical radius from our coverage area.  The purpose of the program was to enable a family to pay this certain amount dependent upon the level, allowing their immediate family members in the household free transport to the area hospitals.  The levels are as follows:
 

    The Basic subscription allows transport to the hospitals (within 35 miles) in Bennington and Brattleboro.                                                $50

        The Sustaining level allows transport to hospitals (within 75 miles) in Albany, Hanover (Dartmouth), Greenfield, Rutland and Pittsfield.     $80 

          The Founding or Business level allows transport to hospitals (within 150 miles) in Burlington, Boston, Springfield, Worcester and Hartford.  This level also provided local business the ability to add their employee's to their subscription.                 $140 

 
    Although there is 3 levels, initial transport must be to a local hospital: Bennington or Brattleboro.  EMS rules state that we have to transport to the closest hospital.  The remaining levels allowed for a patient to be transported further to one of the larger hospitals, if needed.  Although some things have changed, the levels have remained the same.  Federal requirements have changed our program over the years.  Before the government got involved, a family could just pay the Basic amount and if our services were needed, they would be provided and no other charge would occur.  The Federal government passed a type of discrimination law that basically stated that if one patient was charged for services, all patients would have to be charged.  Now when a subscriber pays the basic amount, if they use our service we have to charge the patients insurance.  Whatever we receive from the insurance we accept and the remainder of the bill is written off.  The subscription program is a very vital part of our funding and we hope for continued success.  DVR presently does not charge the towns we serve, making the funds we receive from this drive even more important.  Non-emergency transports to other facilities, from home to a facility or from a facility to home can occur only upon crew availability, and require as much advanced notice as possible.  We cannot promise that these transfers can always happen.
